Inspection Types and Rates

There are 40 key areas of inspection, and up to 235 specific points of inspection, depending on the type of RV and installed equipment.

All Inspections cover the critical components of the RV and photos as needed to point out discovered defects, where appropriate. The critical areas are signs of water leaks, failed or faulty equipment and all parts that effect safety. Useability of systems is next, verifying that the systems work properly.  General inspection of any drive components, frame, tires, exhaust systems (on drivable units) and overall visual inspection of unit for visual evidence of damage, excess wear or unusual wear of components.  (This is not a mechanical inspection of the drivetrain, I recommend seeing a chassis service facility as soon as possible for drivetrain evaluation)

I do a visual inspection of undercarriage for damaged components or obvious defects. Checking tires for unusual wear patterns, leaking shocks etc.

I inspect all roof tops 1st to look for proper sealing of all roof penetrations, seams, vents and components installed on the roof for age or external damage, recent repairs or modifications done to roof top.

Optional Fluid Sampling:

Engine oil, transmission fluid and coolant tests that are added to your inspection are all added at a cost of $60.00 per item and the test results are typically returned back to you within 3 business days after the day of your inspection. Differential fluid testing is $80.00 per unit due to the labor involved in obtaining the sample.  If you desire fluid testing and want the results prior to a purchase, please allow adequate time for the inspection and test results to be returned.

I don’t recommend the fluid samples on units less than 10 years of age with low mileage, as these units generally are very unlikely to show any unusual results. Older units without good maintenance records, and signs of poor care are a good reason to get these samples done to ensure there is not signs of excess wear of internal drivetrain components.

Please call for current rates which vary by type of rv and age.

Example rate:

Class A motorhome, less than 6 years of age is $500.00 plus trip charges for units more than 10 miles from I75 and Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers.

I do not do any driving inspections, unless it requested by the inspection purchaser and the purchaser is driving of the unit and I am riding along, to do a visual and audible inspection.

All inspections are done with the intent of evaluating the proper operation of all components being evaluated and is not a guarantee of any kind that they will continue to operate. The inspection is an opinion that the components are either in a functional or Non-functional or possibly questionable state. These states are noted on the form as functional, Defective or comment status.  If Defect or Comment is marked there will be a comment written explaining the other than functional mark.
